Their garden, being a third of an acre, has been a superb playground for their eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren whose ages range from one to twenty-two. Marion has loved dancing since her 30’s and after Bert retired he was then able to join her and they regularly enjoyed ballroom, Latin American and jive and many more as a couple for a good number of years which also gave them the opportunity to socialise and make many good friends with similar outlooks in life. Although maintaining their fitness is due largely to dancing and gardening, a broad outlook and interest in life generally keeps them active, having enjoyed many holidays abroad and in the UK. The couple say that their long marriage is all about taking things as they come and being part of a very close family. Continued from front Couple Celebrate 75th Wedding Anniversary Fundraising Lions For over 20 years local Lions Clubs have organised a Paultons Park “Day out with the Lions” for those in our community who are less fortunate, disabled and vulnerable. Romsey Lions Club has had a very successful year raffling giant Chocolate Easter Eggs in a variety of outlets raising money to buy tickets for the Lions Fun Day in June. This enables disabled and disadvantaged children with carers from Romsey, Hythe and Waterside to attend. As a result of the generosity of many people 450 invitations are being sent out by Romsey Lions Club to deserving children and their carers out of a total of 2,500 tickets being distributed by Lions Clubs in surrounding towns. A fantastic result was achieved by The Bold Forester where the staff raised £682 by raffling a total of 7 eggs. Pat and Maureen Geere of Romsey Lions are shown presenting a certificate to Sandy Fields of the Bold Forester in recognition of the huge effort put in to achieving this amazing result. More information about joining Lions and supporting local charities in the Romsey and Waterside area can be obtained by telephoning 0844 963 2463.
