We can also collect your own grab bags SUCCESSFUL LOCAL ATHLETE A Paralympic athlete from Southampton, who has competed around the world, was once again selected to represent Team GB in the King Power Quad Nations wheelchair rugby tournament. Introduced to the sport over a decade ago while at a wheelchair racing event, Aaron Phipps has represented his country playing against Japan, Canada and France at the beginning of March. e father of two contracted Meningitis C and Meningococcal septicaemia in 1999, and a er two weeks in a controlled coma, spent a year in hospital having had to have his legs, and most of his ngers amputated. e 35-year-old developed a love for the sport a er deciding to give it a try, and because he already had a high level of tness and speed, soon was invited to join GB training. After being selected for the 2009 European Championships he continued to be an integral part of the team at the 2010 World Championships and 2011 Europeans, making his Paralympic debut at London 2012.
