Fawley Infant School, part of Inspire Learning Partnership, has a dedicated room called the Nest to help nurture children’s social and emotional development as well as providing an additional teaching space. e area has been transformed from a dark L-shaped room into a light and airy space with its new large window, new oors and brightly painted walls. Principal, Hayley Jakimavicius, said: “This wonderful new space is our Nurture and ELSA (emotional literacy support) room where pupils are supported with their social and emotional development including social skills, friendship issues and self-esteem. The Nest was inspired by our school logo, the Fawley Owl, and our carpets were replaced with wood-e ect ooring and a large graphic was papered onto the wall. CEO of Inspire Learning Partnership, Claire Lowe, said: “This is a fantastic new facility for the children of Fawley Infant School, providing an essential resource for when children to develop in all areas of the curriculum. Children love using the Nest and visitors to the school have commented positively about the room.” e school now hopes to uses funds from its PTA, the Friends of Fawley School Association, to transform the area outside the room into a sensory garden motto ‘Learning to Fly High,’ and everything we do encourages that belief in the children. We now have a room that fits that purpose with its natural and bright feel creating a special environment for children to learn in.” To create the new-look Nest a cleaning cupboard was knocked through to create a more useable rectangular shaped room. A small kitchen area was also installed and two high level windows were replaced with a large window and a glazed door to the outside.
