Fareshare Southern Central is one of 21 regional branches and is the UK’s largest charity ghting hunger and food waste. e depot currently provides quality surplus food to charities and community groups across Hampshire and the surrounding regions. ese include homeless hostels, schools, breakfast clubs, elderly people’s lunch clubs, rehabilitation centres and community cafes. e food is in date and good to eat. Last year Fareshare redistributed enough food for 36.7 million meals. e organisations supplied to were centres that provide life changing support as well as as debt counselling and housing advice. ere are 1,500 towns and cities through the 21 regional centres, from Aberdeen to Brighton. Fareshare Southern Central rst began operating in Hampshire in April 2014. e centre has saved 2,482 tonnes of good surplus food from waste, which has been turned into a staggering 5.9 million meals for people in need.
