Peggy and John were active members of the outdoor Bowls club in Ashford and the Indoor Bowls club in Folkestone. ey decided to move to Folkestone before they both retired, in order to be nearer the Bowls. is was Peggy’s life until John had a stroke in 2004 which changed both their lives dramatically. eir daughter Jane was living Peggy Celebrates 100th Birthday role. Peggy has one Grandson, John, and one Great Granddaughter, Indy. in Holbury so it was decided to move to Priest Cro in Black eld, one of MuirCro Housing Association’s sheltered housing schemes, to be nearer to Jane and her husband Tony. John sadly died in 2008 and Peggy has continued to live happily at Priest Cro ever since. Peggy was treasurer of the tenants’ amenities fund for many years and has only recently stepped down from the Chairperson’s Continued from front V olunteers and friends of Home-Start Hampshire enjoyed a glorious sunny a ernoon by the sea at Calshot on 13th September. In order to raise funds for Home-Start New Forest, Christine Galpin chair of the Local Action Group opened her beach hut at Calshot Beach to provide ‘Tea by the Sea’. Cakes and a ra e added to the splendid a ernoon event which raised a total of £359 to support the work of Home- Start locally. Home-Start Hampshire is a charity organisation working in the New Forest to support families, with young children, who are experiencing di culties such as physical and mental health issues, disability, isolation and multiple births. Home–Start regularly receives local referrals for help and is desperate to expand its small band of volunteers who spend just a few hours a week as friends helping a family to cope.
