Following assemblies last November, highlighting the work of the Food Bank and the need of this support particularly through the festive season, the Noadswood school community joined together and donated enough food to provide approximately 905 meals to those in need. Jan Hayter, Food Bank co-ordinator put this donation into context, explaining that in one December week alone, 43 emergency food boxes were given to 155 people. e original plan of making the delivery by car had to be changed to a swi Plan B when they began to load the donations. Over half of a Noadswood School minibus was lled with boxes and bags bursting at the seams, leaving just enough room for 3 students to be accompanied by sta to deliver the donations to Jan and her team. Helen Loveday, Assistant Headteacher said: “It was humbling to learn how our donations will be packaged into parcels for those in our local community who need this type of support.” Noadswood’s food collection Festival of Remembrance at Colbury Another full house at Colbury Memorial Hall enjoyed excellent music and solemn remembrance in the village’s Annual Festival of Remembrance. It was generously sponsored by the Barker- Mill Foundation, with music provided by Ocean Brass and attended by District Councillors, local MP, Dr Julian Lewis, and four Standard Bearers from the British Legion Districts of Lyndhurst, Fawley and both Men’s and Women’s sections of Milford-on-Sea. e evening began with a concert from Ocean Brass who gave a wide variety of popular brass band music to suit all tastes, together with sing-alongs to music from the Great War. is was followed by hymns and the Remembrance Service led by Reverend Bill Whit eld, with the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph given by Mr Roy Farmers. e evening concluded with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance and then a special rendition of Share My Yoke, in memory of Sally Arnold, who had organised this event for many years. Ticket sales and a retiring collection raised the sum of over £1,161 pounds for the Poppy Appeal which Winsor Whist Club meets every Thursday evening from 7.15pm until 9.30pm in the small hall of Copythorne Parish Hall (SO40 2NZ).
