We can also collect your own grab bags Longdown Activity Farm Owners Overwhelmed by Support L ongdown Activity Farm owners Bryan and Dawn Pass have been completely astounded by the size and generosity of the response from individuals, regular visitors, friends, and business contacts to their social media crowd-funding appeal. Following a heartfelt video message by Bryan Pass (or Farmer Bryan as he is better known) on Facebook for nancial assistance to feed the Longdown Activity Farm animals and to help keep the farm open, the original crowd- funding target of £5,000 was met within the hour. Just 24-hours later the donations reached an incredible £25,000. As of 25th April the fund stood at just over £36,000. Open since 1983, New Forest-based Longdown Activity Farm is a popular tourist attraction; it is also an important education centre for local schools as well as a training centre for assisted-needs students. The farm o ers a daily schedule of hands-on activities with a variety of friendly farm animals throughout the day. Following the G o v e r n m e n t ’ s announcement for the commencement of the current lockdown, the farm closed its gate to its many visitors on 20th March 2020. Bryan Pass explained the impact of this to the farm: “Like so many other businesses out there, our income came to an abrupt halt just prior to Easter - one of the busiest and most important times of the year for us. While the government has promised grants and funding, in the short to medium term Children and animals at the farm this is proving difficult for us to access.” He continued: “We now have an urgent need for help to feed the animals that are staying on the farm. We have managed to provide alternative homes for some of our stock, but still have a number of horses, donkeys, cattle, alpacas, goats, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry to feed on a daily basis.
