Her approach was ‘Love where you live’ to brighten up the neighbourhood and raise vital funds for Naomi House Children’s Hospice. e boys watched Lisa and her e orts and asked if they could join in and help her out. eir parents agreed a er they had nished their home-schooling in the mornings. e boys have been assisting, Monday to Friday, clearing paths so people can ensure they maintain the 2-metre social distancing when passing. ey have also been litter picking, painting signs and tending to bushes and garden areas. Lisa who works in retail explained to me how the boys wanted to do something good for the community. Lisa said: “We have worked tirelessly to raise funds and the boys have played a vital part in the Totton community. They work so hard to make Totton a nicer place.” ey have raised over £1,029 for the Hospice during lockdown. Naomi House provides Hospice care and support to local children and young adults in Hampshire and surrounding areas. Lisa added: “ The community have loved them and the comments on social media have been very supportive. Some say how the boys are an inspiration and others say they have set such a wonderful example. I would call them ‘Little Heroes’. It isn’t all about the charity, we have met so many new neighbours while out and about in the community.” Lisa also purchased a huge teddy bear costume, aptly named: ‘Hector, Litter Collector’, the boys’ Dad, Paul Ho wears the costume in an e ort to encourage collections and litter pick-ups . Lisa said: “ Young children stand waving from front doors and windows to say hello, he has become a local celebrity and raised so much more awareness of the need to litter pick in our area.” Lisa added: “I don’t want this to be about me, I am doing it for the community and it has helped me get through the lockdown. Working with the boys has made me look forward to getting up every day in the knowledge we are doing something useful and working together. The boys have brought so much joy to people who are self-isolating, they look forward to see what the boys have done.
