25th June 2020 • The HERALD • Page 11 v SHOP LOCALLY FOR SERVICE & VALUE v HPHA – Still Here, Still Needing Your Help Events and activities and consequently fundraising may have been put on hold on account of the restrictions put into place through the Covid-19 pandemic but the Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) are primed and ready to get back into action as soon as circumstances allow. It is meeting through a video conferencing facility to communicate with its members. Having already cancelled its Heritage Day last October through bad weather, Spring into Action in May has along with the rest of the Hythe social calendar also been lost and with it the opportunity to raise important funding. A recent grant from the Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation has provided the funds for the purchase of materials for the restoration of the rst of the four carriages of the Hythe Pier Railway which was Hythe Pier Train (Photo Couresy of Alan Titheridge) about to commence in association with the Hythe Shed (at the Pier) when the government lockdown was enforced. HPHA is looking at ways to keep awareness of its aim to return both the pier and the railway to its former glories including considering alternate arrangements for Rock the Pier in August. It has upgraded its website to include a monthly newsletter, a video message from chairman Peter King, heritage information and details of events. To keep up to date with its activities or to make a donation go to www. hythepierha.org.uk
