He entered into the Southampton marathon, but unfortunately, it was quite rightly cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, so he’s decided to do a virtual marathon on his own. Like most people, he has had friends and family that have had to tackle cancer, and it is the care and support that charities like the Waterside Cancer Support Centre provide that can be such a lifeline for so many. e sta down at the centre do such fantastic work with an inspiring amount of compassion and care. It has meant so much seeing the donations coming in and has been a brilliant motivation for him to put on his running shoes and get out there and run. Trying to cope with training for a marathon, doing university work, and Covid-19 has presented its challenges but, he is feeling good with just weeks to go! Please help him to raise funds and make a donation to his just giving page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tubby-boy-runs- for-cancer Will Lickely The Eling Tide Mill Experience Re-opens e Eling Tide Mill Experience is now open Friday until Sunday from 10.30am until 4.30pm. ings are a bit di erent and some changes have been made. ey are not milling during opening hours, although you can watch the milling process on the interactive screen and our is also available to buy. ere are 4 time-slots 10.30am; 12noon; 1.30pm and– 3pm with each lasting 1.5hrs. e Café is open but with a limited take-away only service. Overall 32 quizzes took place, assisting 29 local causes/charities. On the last evening, £211 was donated to Jack and Jill’s Community Playgroup, making a fantastic total of £8,020 donated - beyond their wildest dreams. ey would like to thank everyone that took part in the quizzes and, of course, those who donated. David has agreed to post one round quizzes twice a week for the time being as people were reluctant for them to end. A huge thanks must also go to David and Jan for giving up their time to run these quizzes for the community. WATERSIDE SELF-ISOLATION QUIZ Like many groups and clubs across the country, Hythe Rotary has been unable to hold their normal weekly meetings at Dibden Golf Club during the pandemic. Face-to-face meetings were swiftly abandoned and planned events were cancelled. However, thanks to modern technology the group has continued to meet, via Zoom, on a Monday evening. Sharing fellowship and planning new events to support local and international good causes goes on. Hythe Rotary can still be contacted by email and anyone who is interested in joining or supporting the club please let them know: secretary@hytherotary.org.uk Virtual Meetings for Rotary
