Not only do they show significant weight-loss (an average of 1st 10lbs a er one year, three times as much as with the usual NHS care), they also show that the majority of that weight loss is sustained three years on. e researchers reported that all twelve individuals who took part in the trial highlighted that their relationship with their Consultant (someone like me!) was fundamental to their positive experience. e one-to-one support provided by Consultants was important to people taking part in the study. All twelve also reported feelings of wellbeing a er completing the weight loss phase. Waterside Walking for Health is operating again. ey are classed as an organised ‘outdoor physical activity’, and Walking for Health group walks are exempt from the restrictions on social gatherings, known as the ‘rule of six’ in England (from 14th September)”. ey will continue to operate with several additional actions that help them meet that criteria. ere will be a limit on the number of people joining the walks, 30. However to monitor that they have to ask walkers to pre-register for the walk, which includes you lling out a simple online form with your name and telephone number. ey need you to do this because in the event that one of walkers catches the COVID-19 virus, they have to be able to supply this information to NHS Test and Trace sta . ey have to keep the data safe for 21 days then destroy it. If you do not pre-register they may have to turn you away. It is also important to remember that if the level of lockdown needs to be raised, then they may have to close down again at short notice. Here are the next dates and places for the Waterside Walking for Health walks. You are very welcome to go along and join in any of their walks: Thursday 8th October , 3pm, North Gate for a 2.6-mile walk; Monday 12th October , 10am, Culverley for a 2.1-mile walk; Saturday 17th October , 10.30am, Testwood Lakes for a 5.3-mile walk; Thursday 22nd October , 3pm, Parc Pale#3 for a 2.9-mile walk; Monday 26th October , 10am, Longdown car park for a 2.9-mile walk. Waterside Walking Please note Lymington Hospital no longer operates a walk-in service for blood tests. Phlebotomy services are now by appointment only to enable social distancing and reduce waiting times for patients. Appointments can be made by GPs, outpatient clinics or by patients. All patients should bring their blood test form with them as the Phlebotomist may not be able to print it for them. e number to make appointments is 023 8120 4877 Monday-Friday 8am-6pm .
