Try these delicious (and relatively easy) recipes. Easiest ever Biscuits STEP 3 Transfer the whole mat or the individual biscuits to the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 mins or until the edges are just brown. Leave to cool for 5 mins, and serve. Will keep for three days in a biscuit tin. Hedgehog Rolls e simplest biscuits you and the kids will ever bake. Prep: 10 mins Cook: 20 mins Makes: 24 Ingredients • 200g unsalted butter, so ened • 200g golden caster sugar • 1 large egg • ½ tsp vanilla extract ª 400g plain our, plus extra for dusting STEP 1 Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 and line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Put the butter in a bowl and beat it with electric beaters until so and creamy. Beat in the sugar, then the egg and vanilla, and nally the our to make a dough. If the dough feels a bit sticky, add a little bit more our and knead it in. STEP 2 Pull pieces o the dough and roll them out to about the thickness of two £1 coins on a oured surface. e easiest way to do this with small children is to roll the mixture out on a baking mat. Cut out shapes using a 9cm biscuit cutter, or use the rim of a small glass and peel away the le over dough around the edges. Press some clean toys gently into the biscuits, making sure you make enough of a mark without going all the way through. Re-roll o - cuts and repeat. Introduce kids to the art of bread making with this fun and easy starter recipe. ese mini hedgehog rolls are the cutest bake you’ll ever make. Prep: 20 mins Rest: 1 Hour Cook: 15 mins Makes: 6 Ingredients • 500g pack brown bread mix • 25g butter • plain our, for dusting • 12 raisins • 6 aked almonds STEP 1 Make the bread mixture with the butter following pack instructions. It’s easiest to use a stand mixer but not di cult to do by hand. Leave the dough to rest for 5 mins, and then knead for 5 mins. STEP 2 Cut the dough into six pieces. Dust the surface with a little our and shape each piece into a ball by rolling it between your hands. Now make it hedgehog-shaped by pulling one side out a little and squeezing it gently into a snout. Be quite rm or it will bounce back. STEP 3 Put the hedgehogs on a baking sheet, cover with a damp tea towel and leave to rise for 1 hour. STEP 4 Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Using kitchen scissors (supervise younger children), carefully snip into the dough to make the spikes on the backs of the hedgehogs. Press raisins in for the eyes and push a aked almond into the end of each snout. STEP 5 Bake for 15 mins or until the rolls are risen and golden. Will keep for two days in an airtight container.
