By Editor Donna Head Local father of three young girls, Billy Shameti, wanted to give something back to the community, so has set himself the formidable task of running 1000km, all in aid of Saints Foundation. Originally from the small island of Zante, Greece, 42-year-old Billy moved to the New Forest, and now works for a hospitality company that supports Southampton Football Club. A er an incredibly tough year Billy saw rst-hand how COVID-19 has a ected the local community. roughout lockdowns Billy volunteered for a local foodbank and he says: “The pleasure and fulfilment I got from giving something back and helping the foodbank was indescribable”. is spurred him on to set himself his biggest challenge yet – to run 1000km in 5 months, starting in January and nishing in May. Billy wants to pay special thanks to his ever- supportive wife Sarah who holds the fort at home whilst he clocks up a whopping 50km each week – at is more than a marathon a week, every week… for 17 weeks! Billy didn’t have to think too long about the charity he wanted to support, working alongside the Saints he understands the impact the Foundation has on so many.
