One of the most amazing things to come out of the last 12 months is the many ways in which the community stepped up to help each other. e Parish Council wishes to continue a tradition that is a memorable and distinctive way for the community to thank and pay special tribute to the people of Hythe and Dibden whose work and e orts have shown kindness, support The Red Arrows are Back in Hampshire for Promised to be an unmissable experience, Park Proms is set to be a wonderfully British weekend featuring artists and entertainment for the whole family in the heart of Hampshire. Taking place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, the summer festival is brought to you on the historic Broadlands Estate country house, known for being home to the Mountbatten family. e world-renowned Royal Air Force display teams, including the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Tiger Moth display, are set to open the festival with a spectacular display. As the world’s premier aerobatic display team, watch the Red Arrows trail their famous red, white and blue smoke over the Continued on page 5 Broadlands Estate, with their rst performance since 2019 set to be a highlight of the weekend. Park Proms commences on Friday, 27th August and will be headlined by the prestigious, world-famous Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Pete Harrison. In a rst for the South Coast, the 78-piece orchestra will play a “Last night of the proms” styled concert with several pieces from lms including Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Wars and Superman. ey will also be joined by special guests Aled Jones, Laura Wright, Escala and e Travelling Hands. Continuing onto Saturday, 28th August , the second day aims to please those British pop lovers featuring Community Spirit Awards and Environmental Champion and community spirit in this extraordinary year. ese people have been key in getting the community through this di cult time and what they do, and what they have achieved is an example for us all. This year alongside the winner of the Community Spirit and the Environment Awards every person who is nominated will be recognised with the unique Community Spirit Award Pin especially designed by local graphic designer Simon Chadwick. e pin is the logo for Hythe and Dibden in blue and green representing the sea and forest, being supported in a hand. Who can be nominated? • Community Spirit – this can be volunteers/ n e i g h b o u r s / f r i e n d s / family who did shopping when you couldn’t get out, delivery drivers or local businesses, a neighbour who stopped by to say hello, individuals that sewed PPE or those that collected care packages for frontline workers. Essentially anyone who showed kindness and support and made the last year more bearable for you or who you think deserves recognition of a ‘thank you’. • Environmental Champion – to particularly recognise people who voluntarily keeps our Parish clean and tidy and/or undertake environmental improvement work. Community Pin Badge e volunteers of the Healthy Haven garden held their rst garden visit and strawberry cream tea on Tuesday 25th May. A group of ten people enjoyed a tour of the garden. ey all said the garden was bigger than they expected. ey then enjoyed a cream tea of a strawberry gateaux and scones with clotted cream and strawberries.
