A total of £48,692.45 was raised from 8th to 15th June with the help of over 170 generous donors and amazing match funders, including the Childhood Trust and the Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation. e Honeypot Children’s Charity supports young carers aged 5-12 who bear the heavy load of caring for a loved one, o en single- handedly. eir programme of respite breaks, learning support, and digital outreach o ers vital relief from taxing daily caring responsibilities, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Recent feedback from a parent of one of Honeypot’s young carers who is just 10 years old - “The entire team at Honeypot have helped my daughter considerably. She has never had a break from caring for me and Honeypot has just changed her life. I am truly indebted to the team for the joy they have brought to her life.” Viv Carter, Honeypot’s Community Engagement Manager said: “ We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone locally who has supported Honeypot during the Summer Big Give. Walhampton School got us off to a great start by donating £10,000 within a minute of the Big Give opening, with proceeds from parents’ fundraising throughout the last school year and Mr Miell’s amazing recent 36 hour radio marathon. All the funds raised during the Summer Big Give 2021 will help us support the 427 Honeypot young carers age 5-12 that currently live in Hampshire with our Wrap-Round support service. We cannot wait to welcome the children back to Honeypot House near Exbury this summer and hear their laughter whilst they enjoy a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities.
