Roy was a driver mechanic with the 5th Beds and Herts regiment. Roy passed away peacefully at the age of 101. He lived in Knebworth, Hertfordshire for many years, designing and having his own house, e Chilterns. He moved to the New Forest on Applemore Hill for the last 7 years of his life to live with his daughter and son in law. He used to enjoy taking his the age of 49, when Christine, his daughter, persuaded him that she needed a pony. He was such a strong character. He fell and broke his hip at home, had an operation in May 2020, which he recovered from in Southampton General Hospital, he then caught COVID-19 and was placed on a COVID-19 ward and to everyone’s surprise he recovered. In June last year he went into e Birches Nursing Home in Totton for his last year and the family thank the lovely sta for all their care. He will be sadly missed, he was a wonderful Son, Husband, Father and Grandad and the last year with all the restrictions made it di cult for him and the family, like it has for so many. Roy Housden touring caravan to many south coast locations with his wife Cynthia and dog Heidi. He loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. He learnt to ride a horse at Trish Murphy, wife of the late Reverend Peter Murphy wishes to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and wishes at this time. RNLI Calshot wrote a lovely piece around their much loved Chaplain and Peter’s involvement with the Lifeboat Station – is can be read at: www.petermurphy.muchloved.com , where donations can also be made in his memory. Peter only resigned last year and wrote a service for the Calshot crew to use when scattering ashes from the lifeboat, this is sometimes requested and Peter’s wish is that his own ashes are scattered from the lifeboat in Southampton Water. is will happen at some time in the future.
