As a direct response to the pandemic, Honeypot launched a new Wrap-Round service for young carers, including online creative workshops and a erschool SWARM sessions, which many children called “a lifeline during lockdown”. John Heather, Senior Agent for the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Bournemouth Agency explained that COVID-19 continues to have a huge impact locally. “Having considered over 65 nominations we have decided to focus the donations for our three offices on nominating us to receive this donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund. “The money will not only help us to continue to support the 183 Honeypot young carers that live across the New Forest District with online activities and fun whilst COVID-19 restrictions lift, but also help with preparations to open Honeypot House again for residential respite breaks. In light of the national emergency our country is continuing to face, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, announced this £2million fund in February to help local frontline charities during 2021. is follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going John Heather hands over the generous donation to Viv Carter, accompanied by Bumble, the Honeypot mascot! charities that are helping to look after the health and well-being of young people locally. “The Honeypot charity have been making a wonderful difference to young people in our community during these challenging times, and we feel extremely proud to be able to support their efforts.” Viv Carter, Community Engagement Manager at the Honeypot Children’s Charity, said: “ All the children and staff at Honeypot are so grateful to the NFU Mutual’s New Forest Agency for Hythe Voluntary Car Group At the Annual General Meeting of the Car Group their Chairman Alan Tizzard retired. He had been Chairman for 7 years and guided them through many things and gave great support to the group as well as driving many local people to their medical appointments, ey will all miss him and hope he enjoys many years in his retirement.
