Community Art Group, who meet in Lunedale Road, Dibden Purlieu, would like to welcome you back this year to see what they have created during lockdown restrictions. ey have an exciting A Piece of Art and a Slice of Cake VENUE 64 ‘Destruction’ woodcarving by Hilary Bell Hampshire Art Studio’s Summer Workshops - Explore, Discover, Create VENUE 103 Hampshire Art Studio o ers a range of exciting Art courses throughout the year in its fully equipped studio in the idyllic surroundings beside the River Dever, which runs into the famous River Test, Hampshire. is summer it’s launching the very rst of what is hoped to be an annual 2-week celebration of creativity from 9th until 20th August , running into Hampshire Open Studios (Hampshire Art Studio will be taking part during the period 21st until 24th August ). Explore, Discover, Create’s programme of half day, day or 2-day workshops will allow you to explore something new, whatever your experience and level of skill. Children can join in too on one of the days. All the workshops will take their inspiration from the beautiful surroundings, especially the river and woodland, and some will involve exploring the outdoors before making a piece of artwork. Each workshop is led by one of Hampshire Art Studio’s highly professional and talented tutors. Hampshire Art Studio’s co-owner Clare Dryden: “These 2 weeks are a marvellous opportunity for people to try out something creative, whatever their experience. Here at Hampshire Art Studio we have a passion for bringing out pre-conceived ideas they might have about ‘not being creative’. ART ON THE PIER Venue 62 The Waiting Room, Hythe Pier Debra Campbell & Jill Gower Sat 21st – Tues 24th & Sat 28th – Mon 30th August • 10am – 5pm Watercolour, acrylic & pastel artwork inspired by the Pier, The New Forest and local seascapes people’s ‘inner artist’ and help them overcome any exhibition for you to see and purchase, ranging from woodblock carvings, paintings, cards and cra work. ey have a children’s exhibition this year and, as usual, their wonderful array of homemade cakes to have with a selection of drinks. You can also watch artists at work and view work by their professional artist John Edwards. ey have accessible toilets and outdoor seating. eir featured image is of a woodcarving which was accepted into St Barbe’s Annual Open Exhibition in Lymington this year by Hilary Bell entitled ‘Destruction’. Friends Debra & Jill met at a local art class 7 years ago and have been rm pals ever since. Sharing a passion for the local land/seascapes, e New Forest, and the ‘Heartbeat of Hythe’ – e Hythe Pier, Train and Ferry. Debra; known as Debbie by her friends, moved from South Africa to the UK nearly 8 years ago and her African roots can be seen in many of her pieces. With family so far away, Debra found therapy in art during lockdown, sending portraits to family members to keep connected. From vibrant abstracts, coastal watercolours, orals and landscapes in pastels, cards and gi s, there really is something for everyone. Both friends are dedicated members of the Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) – in addition to a percentage of all sales going towards HPHA, there will also be a fundraising ra e & name a bear competition for children.
