Free Online Group for People Living with Arthritis Free online groups are taking place to help people in Southampton, and around the South living with arthritis, to manage their condition. e next group meeting, organised by UK charity Arthritis Action, will take place on Wednesday 11th August at 2pm, with further meetings planned every six weeks. e online groups are held over Zoom, catering to those who still may not be comfortable socialising in-person with others. e meetings o er a safe and friendly environment for people living with arthritis to speak with each other, learn from one another and share their stories, questions and tips. ere are over 10 million people living with some form of arthritis in the UK, making it the leading cause of pain and disability nationwide. Living With Loss Losing a loved one triggers huge emotions of sadness, anger, guilt or confusion; which can overwhelm us with feelings of loss, bewilderment and exhaustion. Grieving is the natural process of nding a way to live with this loss; with no time limit and everyone grieves di erently. Feelings of anger, abandonment; that life is out of control and the sense of unfairness ‘why has this happened?’ are common. However, experiencing feelings of relief especially if your loved one su ered with a long illness, guilt for not having done enough, or preventing their death in some way; remorse can also be common in a di cult or confusing relationship. Oakhaven Wellbeing, a service provided to the community by Oakhaven Hospice Trust, o ers help and support from its friendly and welcoming drop-in centre, the Coates Centre. Set within the beautiful grounds of the Hospice o Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington. ere are trained volunteers ready to welcome anyone from across the New Forest, Waterside and Totton communities. Open to all, you don’t need to a referral. When you feel able, drop in for a cuppa and chat anytime Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm. You can nd information and support to help nd your way to cope with your loss and bereavement, whether it’s in the early days or years down the line. e Centre o ers the opportunity to meet other people in similar situations who understand and support each other. Find support through regular bereavement socials, one-to-one support or group sessions, counselling, complementary therapies, cookery courses and other social events, or just go to sit quietly and enjoy the calming surroundings and gardens; whatever you feel you can cope with. The Coates Centre Illness Support Oakhaven Wellbeing’s monthly Living with Illness Support group will meet face-to-face at the Coates Centre in August. Hosted by Dr Lucy Boyland, sessions take place each month on the 2nd Monday of the month from 9.30am until 10.30am. e next session is on Monday 9th August at the Coates Centre, but the session will also be on Zoom to enable anyone who cannot get to the Centre to still take part. e group o ers the opportunity to nd support from each other, share experiences and learn skills in managing stress and di culties, as well as looking at ways to live life as well as possible.
