I rst became interested in hydrotherapy when my own Labrador required further care following spinal surgery and suffered with degenerative joint disease. Hydrotherapy improved his proprioception, strength and pain levels - improving his quality of life. At Forest Edge we have a pool and a water treadmill which means we have the opportunity to create care plans speci c for each patient depending on the dog’s breed, the condition being treated & the desired outcome, while considering any underlying health issues and their overall condition. Hydrotherapy is fun water-based exercise in a safe, controlled environment and can be used following injury, surgery, and periods of rest. It can be used as a conservative care option, an adjunct with other modalities, pre and post operatively or for dogs with on-going degenerative conditions. Treatments are claimable on pet insurance and loyalty discounts are in place for on-going care, we can help with advice for home management and lifestyle changes and we liaise with your veterinarian throughout. Google, Bark or on their website. Visit their online shop at: www.dogs2fosteruk. org/shop.html or contact them on 023 8178 1707 Monday – Saturday. Evening and weekend appointments are available for shi workers too. e organisation was founded by Jo Brewer, Canine Behaviourist in 2018. To date, Dogs2Foster has rehomed approximately 123 rescue dogs of which many live locally here in the New Forest. “Most dog problems are caused by one of three things, health problems, the environment or the owner. Our training empowers dog owners to really understand their dog better to enable them to change unwanted behaviours fast, we generally see significant improvement of around 80% after only 3 sessions, most owners don’t need more than this because of the extensive training pack we provide as well which is personalised to you and your your dog, this package costs just £99! We have made professional help affordable for all, this is part of the organisations on-going work to prevent dog abandonment because the number one reason dogs are given up is behavioural problems” Says founder, Jo Brewer. Some dogs cannot cope with attending dog or puppy training classes. Group training can be stressful and too much for a nervous or reactive dog. The prescribed class times make weekly attendance a challenge for some owners too and not everyone enjoys group sessions. erefore, their e-learning and one-to- one consultations make getting the help you need a ordable and instantly accessible, plus of course it’s completely Covid- safe.
