RISE by Amanda Ross-Etheridge The Hythe Ferry by Vic Lee Rise up from the ashes, my friend, Pick yourself up and get back on the mend It doesn’t make you weak to fall So dust yourself o and stand up nice and tall. ings will get better you’ll see, Turn to your loved ones; let the bad feelings go free You shouldn’t ever feel guilty about having a cry Sharing your emotions is good, give it a try. Don’t ever feel that you have no worth, You were amazing, straight from birth Let people show you how special you are You are worth saving, so rise and go far. Just take my hand, don’t sink, I am here, You are held dearly, let me make that clear Look into the mirror and be proud of what you see ere’s no shame in feeling down, but know this: you mean everything to me. Taken from her poetry book ‘A Few of my Favourite Things’ available to purchase at: www.amazon.co.uk Good news about the Ferry, They’re not closing the service down. The people of the Waterside still have a choice, Of how they get to town. They can go on the Marchwood bypass And spend ages in the queues. Or simply go by Ferry, And enjoy the panoramic views. Both the train and the Ferry are ensconced, In the history of Waterside, So for the sake of our children, We must cherish them with pride. The excitement of the train ride, As it rattles down the pier. Just imagine the children’s disappointment, If it all should disappear. But now they have the funding, That they so desperately needed. So the restoration can continue, In the knowledge that all their hard work, has succeeded. SEND YOUR POEMS TO 2 HIGH STREET, HYTHE SO45 6AH HOPE by Jim Dolbear The Repair Shop by Vic Lee Today’s my Great Granddad’s birthday, He’s very very old His hair is going silver, His heart is made of gold. He’s got titanium knee replacements, And has tumors in his head. At best he’s still alive, At worse he could be dead. To me he’s very valuable, But as his scrap values fairly good. I’ll keep an eye out for the scrapman, In case he’s in the neighbourhood. But no I’m joking, l’m taking him to the repair shop, To see what they can do. Maybe they can perform their magic, And restore him back to new. Suzie can practise her leather skills, And remove the wrinkles from his face. Will can work on his joints, Till no weakness can be traced. Julie and Amanda can rearrange his stu ng In order to improve his shape, As he is so bent over, And has put on lots of weight. Jay will need to order all the parts, at all the team will need. If the restoration Is going to succeed.
