Fortunately, as participants started arriving the skies cleared and the sun broke through. Hythe of Activity Day is an opportunity for all the volunteer groups, social groups, activity groups and charities that operate within and near to Hythe and Dibden to showcase what they do for the community. ere were over 40 participants including What a ‘Hythe’ of Activity! the National Women’s Register celebrating their 60th Birthday, the RNLI promoting the Hythe Ra Race (22nd August), Forest Forge eatre Company, the Christmas Fire Engine, the Handy Trust, and many more. At 2pm Hythe and Dibden Parish Councillors presented the Community Spirit Awards. Because of the extraordinary acts of kindness, both large and small during the pandemic it was decided that every nominee should be recognised. A specially commissioned enamel pin was created, designed by local Author and Illustrator, Simon Chadwick. The overall winner of the Environment Jo Snocken was thrilled to be awarded the Community Spirit Award for her commitment to vulnerable members of the community Marc Holland graciously accepted the Environment Award for his dedication to Oaklands Pond Continued on page 3
