Division 1 was closely contested with David Jones just inching ahead of Michael Broom on countback, both of Rather changeable weather settled to a gloriously sunny (but breezy) day on ursday 26th August. e New Forest Golf Club Seniors players played in this foursome’s strokeplay competition o the white tees. Normally the rst trophy competition to be contested each year, COVID-19 restrictions at the time had meant it being rescheduled. With each pair taking alternate shots and making the most of half their combined handicaps, the top scores were impressive. Colin Chatten and Charlie Hughes emerged supreme with a nett score of 65.5, followed in 2nd place by On Tuesday 31st August 36 New Forest Golf Club Seniors contested this stableford competition o the white tees. Barry Nicholas in Division 1 finished with a creditable 40 points, 3 ahead of his nearest rival, while Division 2’s John Cockshott simply annihilated all opposition with his 48 point winning them having scored nett 66. In Division 2 though, Philip Walker’s 3 birdies and 3 pars helped him to a nett score of 63, winning him the Hyundai Trophy. Proud cup winner John Cockshott September Monthly Medal ursday 2nd September 2021 brought a cloudy and much cooler day and saw 35 New Forest Golf Club Seniors playing in the September medal competition o the white tees. Dave Senior beat Pete Ayers on countback to win the Division 1 medal, while Terry Jones emerged one shot ahead of Philip Walker to win the Division 2 medal with nett 65. Division 1: 1st Dave Senior nett 63 (back 9 29 nett) 2nd Pete Ayers nett 63 (back 9 32 nett) 3rd Alan Clark nett 65 Division 2: 1st Terry Jones nett 65, 2nd Philip Walker nett 66, 3rd Dave Stredder nett Medal winners (left to right) Dave Senior and Terry Jones New Forest Golf Club Seniors Club Championship Tuesday 7th and ursday 9th September 2021 saw Steve Duckett become New Forest Golf Club Seniors Champion for the h consecutive year. e Championship is played over two rounds o the white tees and Steve Duckett’s gross scores of 73 and 74 gave him a 1 shot lead over nearest rival Laurie Burn winning him the Champions Cup. e Sandy Sanders trophy for the best nett score across the two rounds went to Jim Worsley with a total of 134. Best Gross scores: 1st Steve Duckett 147, 2nd Laurie Burn 148, 3rd Barry Nicholas (left to right) Steve Duckett and Jim Worsley BATTLE OF THE EX’S On 23rd July the Ex-Lyndhurst Junior FC Managers played the Ex-Saints players at Lyndhurst FC Wellands Rd, Lyndhurst. e village of Lyndhurst and surrounding areas turned out in great numbers to support both teams. It was a closely fought contest with Saints just edging it! Before, during and a er the match Tony White created a wonderful atmosphere singing Neil Diamond songs! A er the last eighteen months it was a joy to have such a li for the village and it was a real community event. On 9th September Jo Tessem from the Ex-Saints accepted the cheque for £7,243 on behalf of all the recipients. Proceeds went to the Ex-Saints Schools Charities, Lyndhurst FC, Lyndhurst Scouts and Lyndhurst Junior FC. Bramshott Hill Seniors Results On Monday 6th September two competitions were played by Bramshott Hill Seniors. e rst was the Brambles Cup and the second was the Gerald Lettuce Cup. e Brambles Cup was contested by the under 24 handicap players and the Gerald Lettuce Cup by the over 24 handicap players. A good turnout saw 18 players in contest for the Brambles Cup and 19 players contesting the Gerald Lettuce cup. Some very good scores were returned with the victors being; Paul Wastell winning the Brambles Cup with a score of 40 points and Ronald Gooding winning the Gerald Lettuce cap with a score of 43 points. On Monday 13th September a fun game was played with the Captain, John Gordon’s team taking on the Vice-Captain, Stuart Bulbrook’s, team in a match play format. e Captain’s team won by ve games to three with two games halved. Wednesday 15th September the weather was ne and sunny. A senior’s team from Paultons Golf Club gathered at Dibden Golf Centre to play the home seniors team of Bramshott Hill. With the weather being so kind a close competition was anticipated. e course was in excellent condition for the battle ahead and everyone had high expectations as the teams set out. However, by the end of the match Bramshott Hill had overcome their opponents by six games to zero. However, over a few drinks and a splendid meal in the clubhouse provided by Mytime Golf, all rivalry was forgotten and everyone agreed that it had been a very good day. Paulton’s seniors have promised to reverse the result in next year’s match.
