Particularly, I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our local supporters (individuals, businesses, community groups and Walhampton School) who raised over £100,000 which was then doubled.” With this amazing result, Honeypot will double the number of disadvantaged young carers we can support with our life changing services from 2,000 to 4,000 per year. We will also be able to proceed with essential building work at our respite houses, including enclosing the swimming pool at Honeypot House to give the children the opportunity to enjoy swimming indoors throughout the year. Honeypot’s services transform young carers lives, giving them happy childhood memories and building brighter futures. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible.” HOORAY FOR HONEYPOT! Continued from front page A Close Shave for John Black eld resident John Knell proved he was a cut above the rest when he had his long beard shaved o for charity. Hampshire-based Naomi House & Jacksplace - hospices for children and young adults, received a £300 donation when John’s friends, workmates and customers dug deep for him to have his beard removed, a er cultivating it throughout lockdown earlier last year. John, who works at Morrisons store at West Totton, decided to stop shaving while the COVID-19 restrictions were in place and refused to start again until he had made some cash for a worthy cause. John is no stranger to supporting charities - he is a regular member of Ocean Harmony barbershop chorus which is based at Colbury Hall near Totton. John said: “Our choir has been at Jacksplace events in the past and I thought this would be a good opportunity to make a little more money for them. All I had to do was not shave … which was not too difficult!” e task of removing John’s beard was le in the capable hands of Colleen Crotty at Ron’s Barbers at Black eld Business Centre at Hampton Lane. Pete Abrahams, Head of Supporters Services at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to John for his wonderful donation of £300 raised from his beard shave. As everyone knows we are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and donations make this happen.” Before and after, John Knell raised funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace
