It can be an emotional roller-coaster navigating the recession, job security and paying the bills at the forefront, life can seem stressful and overwhelming. Is it any wonder our mental health may have su ered during this time? However, even with the uncertainty of life, does it mean that we have to put our life on hold? Isn’t this now the ideal time to truly re ect on who we are and how we show up in the world? Whilst I am a true believer in things happening for us, I appreciate this mind-set is hard for some to digest when we feel things are out of our control. Maybe this is the time to let go of what we can’t control, now is the time to start re ecting upon how well our lives were actually serving us prior to 2023 It all starts with being present; Stop thinking about the friend. Let go of your story and what “happened to you”. Embrace the past has happened for you. Most people fail to realise what they think and feel today plants the seed for tomorrow. If we are living a life of fear, anxiety and reliving past hurt, then this is what we are going to see owering before us tomorrow. Maintain a positive mind-set by focusing on the positives you have in your life. Even with challenges around you, start to engage in positive and upli ing information. Listen to music that feeds your soul or read inspiring books, meditate, do a rmations, embrace form of movement, start a gratitude journal. ese simple changes in your life can have profound results. New Year New You! Start to take control of your life, your thoughts and your actions. Talk to yourself as you would your best Zoe Patey, Spiritual Practitioner & Mental Fitness Coach Solent Mind’s Digital Skills project has been designed from the ground up in conjunction with the Government Digital Skills Framework which can be accessed via the link: www.gov.uk/ government/publications/essential-digital-skillsframework/essential-digital-skills-framework Solent Mind have chosen the core principles from this framework and designed a free, open access introductory level course for service users to help improve digital con dence and wellbeing. Please note, there are no exams or tests as part of this course. We try to keep a personal feel within the group and maintain a maximum ratio of one trainer to every three users. e course is open to anyone and is completely free of charge, people do not need to receive any support or live within a certain area to access it. Did you know? Around 16% of the UK population are unable to use a laptop, tablet or smartphone without assistance. Why is this a Problem? Services are going online, it is assumed that everyone has adjusted to this digital age. How do we solve it? We have created some free workshops that are available across the Hampshire area. Courses are located across Southampton and the surrounding area as follows: 28 e Avenue, Southampton 11th January; Shirley Warren Action Church 12th January; May eld Nurseries 23rd January and 20th March; Kings Church, Southampton 7th March; and Totton and Eling Community Centre 2nd May. Alongside the course we run a Digital Drop in, this is more for users who have completed the course or are slightly to advanced and just need help with one element with a device.
