Martina treated us to an evening of ‘Strictly’ owers with a splash of seasonal sparkle. Each arrangement was themed around each judge of the show and linked to the predecessor – an intriguing way of displaying owers. Martina showed us endless, inspirational oristry skills with ease, as she talked about the judges and which ower/display was about their personality and why! For example Craig Revel Horwood ‘was’ a blue glass bowl lled with pin holders; it had a frame, arms and ngers – pussy willow to achieve these. Lime green Anastasia chrysanthemums were used for a spiky texture, with beautiful blue agapanthus (more spiky owers) complimented by silver fatsia leaves, silver baubles (recycled) and stones, moss and a few baubles to cover the base. A gorgeous tribute to Christmas and Craig‘s personality. An arrangement on a silver vase incorporating a Hogarth curve symbolised Darcey Bussell. Ivy was used to make the curve. Various foliage including eucalyptus, choisya, pittosporum made an open and airy display. Darcy was told she would never become a ballerina and so Martina made a beautiful, elegant display using pink, vintage coloured roses, cream/ green Lisianthus (Bohemian Mocha), poppy heads and baubles. Dried golden (sprayed) magnolia leaves nished it o beautifully. Nikki and the team served delicious seasonal refreshments including stollen and mince pies before the ra e. Lovely to hear the social chatter about the demonstration and Christmas plans during the refreshment break! Lyn had created a magical ra e of numerous Christmas bags sealed with secret prizes within. Along with these delightful arrangements, there was great excitement to see who had won such amazing prizes – there must’ve been at least 20! We would like to wish everyone a wonderful, happy, healthy 2023! Please don’t forget that we have no meeting in January. Next meetings are: Wednesday 1st February: Demonstration M&M ‘Surprise’ and Thursday 2nd March: AGM and show night- ‘Spring has Sprung’ – please bring home made arrangements to raise money for charity.
