Est., Hythe 023 8084 0163 Happy New Year from all at The Herald CLASSIC CAR CLUB – ‘Going Up a Gear for 2023’ The Southampton and New Forest Group of the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club are continuing to boost their membership by inviting potential new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to go along and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members enjoy a friendly, social atmosphere at the monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e. ere are lm nights, quizzes, speakers on various topics and club drive days. Some members have other makes of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the range of vehicle manufacturers to complement their A30/35’s and other Austin models. e club owns Austin Motor Spares Service Ltd which holds, in stock, a large quantity of highly valued items to support customers’ needs. New, used and reconditioned parts are sold by Robert and Rick Prinn who are able to o er comprehensive advice and help. Club News On ursday 8th December, the club held its very popular Christmas Quiz Night with mince pies, tea and co ee. Attendance was good considering the cold spell we were all experiencing. ere was a good selection of ra e prizes and nearly every member had a prize to take home. e quiz, written by their magazine editor, was a great success with a wide range of teaser questions. e group was pleased to welcome a potential new member who had seen the club’s articles in e Herald. He went home with a ra e prize. e evening brought 2022 club events to an enjoyable conclusion. e group have thanked the team at e Herald for their support in advertising the club during 2022 which has successfully boosted membership and wish all the sta at the Herald a Happy and Healthy New Year. The next scheduled meeting is on Thursday 12th January 2023 and will be a presentation by Julia Baker on Furzey Gardens and Minstead Trust. Meetings take place on the second ursday of each month, starting 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Rd, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them.
