TREE AND BENCH DEDICATED TO THOSE LOST IN THE PANDEMIC Hythe and Dibden Parish Council have recently installed a new bench and planted a tree in memory of those who lost their lives to COVID-19 during the pandemic. A tree has been planted at Lawns Wood in Dibden Purlieu and a bench has been installed at Ewart Recreation Ground in Hythe, both have a plaque with the words: “In memory of those residents from the Parish of Hythe and Dibden who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021.” Thank you from Barry’s Farm Maureen and the team at Waterside Cancer Support Centre, part of Wessex Cancer Trust, would like to say a massive thank you for recent fundraising achievements from the Community. e Waterside Christmas Fire Engine kindly donated over £700 from the money they raised over the Christmas period.  ankfully, they were able to get the engine up and running again a er their alternator broke so the local community was still entertained - it’s something we all look forward to hearing as it comes round the streets. Gav Rogers raised over £1,000 with his awesome Christmas Lights display. We can’t imagine the amount of patience it takes to set up the fantastic display, making sure all the lights are working and then setting them up all over the house and garden, but we’re extremely grateful to him and to everyone who donated. e team at BE-BE’s Cafe raised almost £2,000 with their charity curry night. It’s the rst time they’ve held one since Covid locked us all down and it was a resounding success. Our heartfelt thanks go to Habib and his team for their generosity - not to mention delicious curry! A diagnosis can have a huge impact on the entire family. at’s why, at Wessex Cancer Trust, we’re committed to providing free support to anyone a ected by cancer in the communities where they live for as long as they need us; without you we simply couldn’t continue - thank you for your ongoing support.
