Shine Performing Arts Celebrate Success Shine Performing Arts recently held their annual Awards Evening and Film Night at Hanger Farm in Totton. e evening commenced with all the children arriving dressed as though it were their own lm premiere, to enjoy their own photographic experience in a beautiful white stretch limousine provided by New Forest Limousines and on the red carpet. Once all the parents were seated in the auditorium all the young stars from classes in Ashurst, Hythe, West End and Hedge End were all welcomed individually to rounds of applause to watch all the lms they have appeared in and in some cases written over the last year. e evening was split into two halves with the rst half featuring ve of the lms including an amazing Halloween dance video with children from every class performing a dance routine in full costume and make up to Everybody by the Backstreet Boys. An interval followed with an excellent bu et supplied by Just Rolls and the children had further photographic opportunities with their families. e second half followed and once the Elemental Descendants (Shine’s take on Harry Potter) written by Logan Young had rolled the credits, all the children were given a certi cate and awards were presented for Best Actor, Progress and Special Achievement. Best Actor Awards went to: Rosie Bartlett, Amelia Anderson and Sebastian Adeshokan. Progress awards went to: Italia Cullers, Jenson McGlashan, Solomon Young, Saoirse Farrell and Ellie Haskell. Special Achievement Awards went to: Florence Kempsey, Jake Mostran, Anna Mountain, Alysha Taylor and Taylor Mai Munday for successfully gaining a part in a BBC television series starring Martin Sheen and Sharon Horgan, written by Jack orne. Valentine’s Day saw a rst for Hythe & Waterside Rotary who held a special dinner with a glass of bubbly and a red rose for all the ladies present. Ten Rotarians and their partners enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner with background music provided by Rotarian Tony Carter, who also gave a rendition of ‘My Funny Valentine’ on his saxophone. Hythe & Waterside Rotary President, David Saunders, said: “This has proved to be a delightful evening which, because of its success, I hope will be repeated in the future.” David went on to thank Tony and his partner who had organised the evening which included a Valentine’s ra e which raised £50 for Rotary Charities.
