As we age, our ability to travel independently declines, potentially reducing opportunities to meet and socialise with friends and family. e ability to travel therefore is o en a key factor in reducing loneliness and social exclusion. On top of this, the pandemic intensi ed feelings of isolation and reduced con dence and familiarity with using public transport. With this in mind, Hampshire County Council working in collaboration with consultants Atkins and MHA Communities, a local voluntary sector organisation skilled in working with older people, are delivering the ‘Travel for All’ pilot project. e Travel for All initiative seeks to enable older residents in Hampshire to become more ‘travel con dent’, helping them to broaden their travel horizons, take independent journeys via public and community transport and keep more active.
