One competition was two rounds on the 18 hole course and the other competition consisted of two rounds on the 9-hole short course. Club Champion: Sue Lewis with 163 gross; e Silver Salver: Lynn Dunkason with 140 nett; Division 1: 1st Sally Till with 146, winning the Forest Plate; Division 2: 1st Hilary Hanmore with 143, winning the Kiwi Trophy; Division 3: 1st Jo Wiseman with 144, winning the Swan Cup; 9 Hole Short Course: Best Gross: Pearl Hansford with 91, Best Nett: Ros Bentley with 62. Bramshott Hill Ladies Open Day What a lovely day for the ladies section Open competition and a great turn out: 25 teams of ladies playing, some coming from outside Hampshire. Once again, the welcome and hospitality o ered on the day was very much appreciated by the visitors. Many thanks to Sue Lewis, Hilary Hanmore, Mandy Tennant and Jackie Cartwright for organising such a successful and enjoyable day. Also, a big thank you to everyone else who contributed on the day. e Open Day was also successful in raising just over £500 for the ladies’ section, and over £400 for the Lady Captain’s charity, the Rosewood Free School. North Hants Plate Sue Lewis, Margaret Shepherd and Julie Weatherdon played in the North Hants Plate, beating Hartley Witney away to progress to the next round which is against Tylney Park on the 15th August. Well done ladies and good luck in the next round. Stoneham Cup Congratulations to the Stoneham Cup Team, winning at home 5-2, against North Hants and the team were also successful in their away match against Hayling Island. e draw this year placed Bramshott Hill Golf Club in a very tough group, playing opponents who had won the Stoneham Cup in recent years. Although not successful in their group, the team can take satisfaction from knowing that they came close to winning home and away to Barton on Sea - the eventual winners of the group. Barton on Sea will now go onto play in the quarter nals against Hockley. ank you to the 14 ladies and 4 caddies who have represented BHGC in the Stoneham Cup. ere have been many comments from the visiting teams about the friendly welcome they received and how much they enjoyed the course and the company. Bramshott Hill Seniors Results On Monday 24th July, thirty-seven Bramshott Hill Seniors once again decided to ignore the weather forecast and play 18 holes of golf at Dibden Golf Centre. e game was a medal quali er, probably the most di cult format of the game, however the seniors were not to be deterred. ankfully the weather decided to behave itself and nobody got too wet. e results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Mark Eve Gross 81 HCP 15 Nett 66, 2nd Peter Mortimer Gross 87 HCP 19 Nett 68, 3rd Ian Blandford Gross 83 HCP 13 Nett 70; Division 2: 1st Ken Vine Gross 94 HCP 26 Nett 68, 2nd Graham Blomfield Gross 93 HCP 25 Nett 68; 3rd Dave Wilson Gross 94 HCP 24 Nett 70; Division 3: 1st John Yapp Gross 96 HCP 29 Nett 67, 2nd Ron Smith Gross 100 HCP 30 Nett 70, 3rd Dave Kellaway Gross 97 HCP 27 Nett 70. Thursday 27th July Once again the Bramshott Seniors team gathered at Dibden Golf Centre for an interclub match v Paulton’s Golf Club. ey last played Paulton’s on 13th April away at Paulton’s Golf Club. On that occasion Bramshott lost the match four games to two. is time Bramshott were determined to reverse that result. With the weather again being kind, a good match was enjoyed by all, especially Bramshott Seniors who managed to win by 3.5 games to 2.5. Following the game, a meal was enjoyed in the clubhouse and many golf stories were told, some even believable, and eventually everyone made their way home a er a very enjoyable day. 18th July the DOGS played their fun competition, a 3 Man Team Irish Rumble, plus all those other wonderful add on competitions for prizes. With that many players, the 11th tee was in use at the shotgun start and was also designated nearest the pin hole. Contrary to popular belief this does not necessarily disadvantage those having to start on that hole as Harry Maitland proved when he placed his rst tee shot of the day a mere 3 feet from the ag, easily close enough to claim the prize. In Division 1 Chris Angell just inched past Ken Scott on countback with a round that included 8 pars and 2 birdies, while in Division 2 Ross Matthews stormed ahead fully 7 shots clear of the eld with 4 pars and 2 birdies on his card. Division 1: 1st Chris Angell 65 nett (back 9=30), 2nd Ken Scott 65 nett (back 9=31), 3rd Dave Senior 66 nett.
