Over 650 people entered the beautiful hospice gardens to enjoy the music by All About ABBA, Boogie Bumpers and Groovality. e weekends festivities included an individual picnic box prepared in Oakhaven’s very own kitchen containing delicious homemade savory and sweet items. e weather didn’t dampen the attendees’ spirits and the sun shone for most of the weekend, which encouraged sta , volunteers, and guests to enjoy the music and dance the evening/a ernoon away. ere were moments of joy, happiness, and real emotion. “A fabulous weekend was had by all. It was incredible to see so many people in the grounds enjoying themselves, dancing, singing and soaking up the amazing atmosphere” says Stella Foster, Senior Events Fundraiser. As a rst event, Oakhaven are delighted to announce the income raised over the 3 days exceeded £20,000. All funds raised will go to support Oakhaven Hospice’s All About ABBA crowds free of charge services for patients and their loved ones, both in the hospice and in homes throughout the New Forest, Totton, and Waterside communities. A vote of thanks to the supporters of this event Mornington Court, Cinamon Luxury Care and Shore eld Holiday Park and Oakhaven’s outstanding volunteers without whom they could not run these allimportant fundraisers. Healthy Haven at Hythe of Activity e volunteers from the Healthy Haven Garden attended the Hythe of Activity Day on Saturday 12th August. ey sold plants and jams and advertised the garden and their cream teas. Despite the wind and the rain, they had an enjoyable time and connected with lots of people. Christine, the Head Gardener, won a badge and a certi cate for the Community Spirit award. e volunteers at the Healthy Haven have connected with Lucie Mann to give her fresh herbs from the garden to use at her Community Cook Ups on ursdays at 3.30pm at the Black eld Baptist church. It is exciting when two groups can link up together for the bene t of the local community. Lucie also won a Community Spirit certi cate for all the activities which she is involved in. Lucie Mann and Christine with certificates WHAT’S ON IN THE WATERSIDE! Would you like to learn new skills, meet friends, get tter or begin a hobby? Go along to the ‘What’s on day’ on Saturday 16th September in St John’s Hall, New Road, Hythe, from 10am to 1pm. Organised by Waterside Primary Care Network and the Parish of Hythe, the day will o er an opportunity to meet the people that are running groups locally, whilst enjoying free refreshments. You will be amazed by the wonderful groups running in the Waterside!
