Every meeting includes a ra e with many members leaving with a prize or two. e club holds many events throughout the year with speakers on various topics, picnics, quizzes, car meets, club drive days and an annual charity auction. So why not drop in for a taster visit, a tea or coffee and share any of you classic car experiences with members? You will receive a warm welcome. Club News On ursday 10th August, the group was entertained by club member Mick Bright and fellow musician Trevor Rice. e aim was to demonstrate the development of popular music from the 1950’s to the late 60’s. As a teenager in the 50’s, Mick was inspired by Lonnie Donnegan to form a ski e group called ‘Mick Bright and the Bright Boys’ (1956-57). In 1958, they won a talent competition in Winchester. In between his live music he played recordings that he had contributed to, including the rst song written by him in 1966. It was called ‘London Town’ and was recorded in 1967 at Pye Studios, Marble Arch. He shared his memories of playing at the ‘2ii’s’ co ee bar in the 1960’s, famous for groups such as the Shadows. e evening was rounded o with a classic from the Kinks, ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’. e evening was thoroughly enjoyed by club members. e club is always happy to welcome new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to come and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Saab, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the membership. September’s meeting is on Thursday 14th. The next meeting is on the 12th October and will be the Club AGM. Meetings take place on the second ursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Road, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them. ‘LIFE’S TOO SHORT – PUT SOME MILES ON IT’ Left to Right: Trevor Rice and Mick Bright (Club Member) Predictably perhaps, an odd number of New Forest Golf Club Seniors turned up to play on ursday 3rd August, in this four man Texas Scramble trophy competition, but Vice Captain Harry Maitland graciously stood aside to leave 44 players to compete on what turned out to be a ne day weather wise. All 11 teams scored well under par for the course with over half of them coming in below 60 so there may have been more than a few slightly disappointed faces when the winning scores were announced.
