Gang Warily Scout & Guide HQ are looking for new committee members and leaders, as some of their existing committee members are stepping down. ey are a small charity providing scouting and guiding groups at their HQ, which is just o of Newlands Road in Fawley. At the moment they run 7 di erent groups with 113 local young people taking part each week. e groups are run by 34 volunteers/leaders and 3 young leaders. e groups run term time only. e charity is responsible for keeping the HQ open so that the groups can continue to run. e HQ building is made up of 3 wooden modular buildings that were donated to the group by ExxonMobil in 1983. In 2018 the volunteers started a fundraising mission to raise the funds to build a new HQ, to date they have raised just over £65k, but still need to raise another £100k to get the building constructed. During that time the charity has been working alongside Fawley Parish Council who have agreed to give the charity a new 50 year lease. At the moment the legal teams are drawing up the new lease. ey need new committee members and leaders to help them to continue providing scouting and guiding activities in the area. Would you like to get involved with a local charity, who supports local young people and the community? Have you got work or life experience that would help the charity? Could you help them achieve their goal and get their new HQ built? Have you got some spare time that you would like to ll. DIBDEN PURLIEU CLEAN UP from Hythe & Dibden Parish Council On Saturday 24th June, as many locals know, we carried out a ‘Big Clean Up’ of the weeds, rubbish and debris in Dibden Purlieu village. Sadly, e Parish Council and its Councillors are not responsible for maintaining District Council areas and we request that you do your bit to help your community to keep looking good. e NFDC cut backs mean that a yearly spray with weed killer is all that is on o er. As this would mean the tall weeds would just die and be le brown and lying there, we decided to do the Clean Up. Four Councillors and several members of the public worked hard for 2 hours to leave the area looking great. Lots of praise and compliments followed including the o cers from NFDC, Parish, traders and public. BUT it needs maintaining and regular input by the traders and volunteers who value the outlook in front of their shops and those who love our village. How can you help? • Litter picking • Keeping your location presentable • Regular weed maintenance To get involved and become part of the Clean Up team please contact: Stephanie.Osborne@hytheanddibden.gov.uk, David. Cole@hytheanddibden.gov.uk or Malcom.Wade@hants.gov. uk. Or meet us, at Meet your Councillor on the First Friday of each month at St Andrew’s Café 10am to 11.30am.
