Despite the intense rivalry on the eld, the nal score was a 1-1 draw a er full-time, decided by penalties. Jerry’s team, seeking redemption a er a heavy defeat last year, managed to clinch victory this time, showing the power of determination and unity. e community’s support extended beyond the football pitch. Stu Mcllwraith took charge of ticket sales for a ra e, with donations pouring in from the local community. e generosity of those in attendance was palpable, and the ra e’s success added to the event’s overall impact. e Hythe and Dibden Football Club graciously allowed the game on their grounds free of charge. Post-game, players and spectators gathered in the club’s bar, strengthening the sense of togetherness that the day had fostered. Local DJ Simon Tate set the mood with a spirited DJ set, ensuring that the celebrations continued well into the evening. e event was a true testament to the The line-up for this year’s match the unwavering support for mental health awareness. It demonstrated that even in the face of tragedy, communities can come together, support one another, and make a real di erence. As the nal whistle blew and the sun set on Clay elds Football Ground, it was clear that the day had le a lasting impression on all who attended. e memory of Connor Still lives on through this remarkable event, and the commitment to tackling mental health stigma has been rmly established within the community. For more information about Solent Mind and the mental health services that they o er locally please visit: www.solentmind.org.uk power of community and Celebrating 15 Years of The Horrill Centre A fundraising curry and quiz night was held in October to celebrate 15 years of e Horrill Care & Wellbeing Centre. e celebration was well attended with all tickets sold out prior to the event. On the night as well as the curry and quiz they held a ra e with some fabulous prizes donated including: a spa experience and treatment, physio/massage session and a 3 course meal donated by e Montagu Arms Hotel and some lovely gi s from Fairweather’s Garden Centre. e local Tesco and Waitrose stores both donated wine for the evening and all the rice to go with the curry made by the Centre’s cook Fay, was donated by Hampshire Foods Ltd. A local Ukulele group provided musical entertainment on the night too. A total of £432.10 was raised for the Centre’s amenity fund which helps support them with activities, outings and entertainment for clients who attend the Centre. e Horrill Care & Wellbeing Centre is run by Age Concern Hampshire and aims to help older people to continue living independently in the community and provide much needed respite for families and carers.
