Nearest the pin: D Wilson (4th) P Mortimer (11th) Pro’s approach: D Webster (15th). the rst XV won 23-9 against Southsea Nomads. ey’ve since followed this up with a 54-7 win against Portsmouth RFC Vets. e Minis (U8’s, U10’s and U12’s) enjoyed a cracking day of rugby, kindly hosted by New Milton RFC. It was their rst festival of the season and for many, their rst time playing competitively. e U12’s nished the day unbeaten. Fawley Firecats (women aged 16 years to adult) have increased their numbers from 5 to 35 in just a few short months. e Firecats meet on a ursday evening from 6.30pm and a erwards in the new clubhouse. Playing Pinehurst/ Chapman pairs format for stableford points, despite the damp conditions excellent scores were achieved by all 9 pairs. Even New Forest Golf Club Chairman Paul Hanvey who joined the nal group to help keep score came in well under his handicap with a gross score of just 1 over par. In the clubhouse, Bridget and her team excelled as always serving wonderful cakes for the hungry competitors, and Seniors Captain Hugh Marchant arrived to present the prizes. Just to On Tuesday 24th October the nal day of New Forest Golf Club Seniors’ main individual trophies for the year featured two separate competitions. e Trophy Winners Vase, a strokeplay competition o the white tees open to those New Forest Golf Club Seniors who have won an individual trophy or medal this year attracted 16 of those eligible to compete. e Reg Little Cup is for those who have not won any such trophy and 27 Seniors played in this Stableford competition again o the white tees. It was a cold start for the 43 players, but it warmed up nicely later in the morning with only the last few groups getting a bit damp. In the Trophy Winners competition, Ken Scott streaked in 4 strokes ahead of the eld with nett 62. e Reg Little Cup was won by Mike Stevenson leading by one with an excellent 41 points. New Forest Golf Club Ladies and Seniors The winning pair Paul Chambers and Ann Spurrett prove the point that the last shall be rst, the nal pair of Paul Chambers and Ann Spurrett scored an amazing 28 points thus dashing the hopes of those already waiting in the clubhouse. 1st Paul Chambers and Ann Spurrett – 28pts, 2nd Jon Grainger and Lesley Lloyd – 26pts (back 6=18), 3rd Colin Bailey and Barbara Creasey – 26pts (back 6=16), 4th Phil Kilburn and Sue Kilford – 25pts.
