She also takes under her wing the churches at Exbury and East Boldre, and the chapel at Bucklers Hard, all of which form part of the wider Beaulieu bene ce. Her previous role was as part of the ministry team in a rural Cotswolds bene ce which includes Upper and Lower Slaughter among its seven churches. e Rev Cowie is the rst-ever female incumbent at the Abbey Church, and churchwarden Peter Melhuish said: “We are delighted that Catherine is coming to us. Members of the three churches and the chapel of Bucklers Hard greatly look forward to working with her, as we send the Christian message even more widely throughout the benefice.” Her position will be o cially con rmed at a “licensing” service in the Abbey church by the Bishop of Winchester, the Rt Rev Philip Mounstephen Reverend Catherine Cowie at 7.30pm on 25th September. Messy Church at St John’s and St Anne’s from The Parish of Hythe Messy Church – it’s church, but not as you know it! Messy Church is for all ages and re ects the creativity of God in its imaginative hands-on approach to being church together. We run Messy Church on the last Friday of the month at St John’s Hall in New Road, and the first Friday of the month at St Anne’s Church in Warrys Close. Doors open at 3.30pm so you can come straight from school, and there are a range of di erent activities you can take part in together, before story and song time. We then nish with a delicious meal, just before 5pm. You don’t need to book a space to come to Messy Church. Our upcoming Messy Church dates for the rest of this year are: Friday 27th September at St John’s Hall, Friday 4th October at St Anne’s Church, Friday 25th October at St John’s Hall, Friday 1st November at St Anne’s Church, Friday 29th November at St John’s Hall and Friday 6th December at St Anne’s Church.
