It’s important to know that most of these women don’t regard menopause as a “gi ” – although, following hypnotherapy, many of them do see this time in their life as a time of potential and growth. In addition to the vasomotor symptoms and mood swings, hormonal changes during menopause are responsible for another very signi cant shi in the way women think and feel. Research shows that hypnotherapy can help reduce hot ushes and night sweats by up to 74% and can help improve sleep, mood, and general wellbeing. Although we o en think of our minds and bodies as being separate, in fact, they’re constantly communicating with each other. An example of this would be feeling scared and experiencing a rush of adrenalin which causes our heart rates to rise and our faces to redden. How you think about, and respond to, your menopausal experience shapes that experience and hypnotherapy provides a powerful way to explore, and change, our thoughts and emotions. HypnoMenopause® encourages a deeper connection between the mind and body which encourages a sense of healing and recovery and can help improve your physical experience. Hypnotherapy is also a wonderfully relaxing experience which can help manage stress and anxiety – two issues which many women face during menopause. Although we tend to think of menopause as a collection of symptoms, and a particular time in life, associating it with women aged around y years old, menopause is so much more than that. When I’m working with women, I’m not just working with their physical symptoms and, as a therapist, my approach is very di erent to health practitioners who are focused on a bio-medical approach to menopause. I see it as working with women who are experiencing menopause against the backdrop of their unique life, health and cultural experience. And working with women whose experience of menopause is shaped by their values and prior experiences. As I listen to women carefully, I recognise the complexity of menopausal experiences, they are all unique, and this is used as a starting point to look at integrating a holistic and therapeutic approach. Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for reshaping thought patterns. For women dealing with the emotional toll of menopause, hypnosis can help foster a more positive outlook, self-acceptance, and emotional resilience. It helps women feel more in control of their experiences, which is key during a time of signi cant physical and emotional change.
