Normally the County has an annual holiday to enable us to attend our National Annual Meeting, but this year it was held locally in Portsmouth so we could all travel for the day and return home! Not wishing to forgo a holiday it was decided to visit Colchester where the National Annual Meeting was scheduled to be when the pandemic struck. Fi y members travelled to Colchester for a few days allowing us time to have a guided tour of Colchester, visit Beth Chatto’s garden, Flatford Mill and enjoy a cruise on the River Orwell. We all enjoyed catching up with the news from our individual Guilds also. Guild members walked to Bucklers Hard from Beaulieu fortunately the weather was good to them. e following walk was a historical guided walk around Romsey, members had not appreciated how much there was to see in the market town. Members attended Romsey Abbey to hear the Royal Marines Concert Band with the Military Wives and another Guild enjoyed a camp re at their meeting place. Also members went away for a long weekend on Brownsea Island, always recognised as one of the original camps at the beginning of Scouting. e Guilds came together again for a visit to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, a wonderful place to visit as the trees change colour. A few of the members were introduced to Pond dipping and a great time was had by all. As the season changes if you are looking for something to maybe challenge you, or just want to experience Fun and Friendship think of joining ‘Guiding for Adults’ namely e Trefoil Guild. We have many breakaway groups, Singing, Scrabble, Walking and an Annual Challenge, also opportunities to travel abroad at a National Level under the Topaz scheme. To nd out more visit the Trefoil Guild website or make contact with your local Guides who will be able to point you in the right direction.
