A large bowl was used and had been partially lled with various types of foliage including fatsia and bergenia. Birch twigs were added together with tall white antirrhinums, small lime green chrysanthemums, cerise pink gerberas, cerise stocks, sedum and blue clematis. A track from ‘Grease’ was played while Martina nished the design. ‘Les Misérables’ was the inspiration for this design. A large round bowl had been lled with pieces of kindling and test tubes. Trachelium, white antirrhinums, ornithogalum, white astilbe and craspedia were placed in the tubes together with some green foliage. ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ was played while Martina completed this design. An ikebana style design was created using a black dish and two pin holders to interpret ‘Miss Saigon’. Pussy willow was used together interpreting ‘Phantom of the Opera’. Various types of foliage were used including malus, viburnam tinus, eucalyptus and nandina. Mauve carnations, mauve roses, red roses and pinky red spray roses were inserted together with some blue clematis. A second placement completed this design and music from the masquerade ball was played. A very tall metal stand with test tubes attached was used for the last design depicting ‘ e Greatest Showman’. Miscanthus, blue clematis, blue agapanthus, trachelium, mauve carnations, cerise germinis were inserted in the tubes and coloured feathers provided the nal touch. A track from the show was played. A most enjoyable and entertaining a ernoon. e next meeting will take place on Tuesday 10th December for a talk by Melanie Smit titled ‘A Taste of Christmas’. e club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 2pm at the Royal British Legion Club, Exbury Road, Black eld, SO45 1XD – visitors welcome; please contact Jan Gordon for more details on 023 8084 4835. with white antirrhinums, blue agapanthus, cerise stock and ornithogalum to create the height. A tall pale pink container was used for this design Martina Coleman Unusual Perennials Bartley Horticultural Society’s next meeting is on Thursday 21st November for a talk by Bryan Madders titled ‘Unusual Perennials’.
