New Forest Spitfire Continued from page 22 How Hitler Inadvertently Helped Fund a New Forest Spitfire Billy and Flo Get in Training for Heartbeat’s Biggest Fundraiser for 2025 Cardiac charity Heartbeat is preparing to host its biggest fundraising event to date, with over 1,500 people expected to take part. e charity’s rst ever ‘Heart and Stroll’ is a 5k gentle walk that takes place at Southampton Common on Sunday 29th June – and there will be a few surprises along the way to keep everyone entertained too. Housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division is sponsoring the event, and mascots Billy Barratt and Heartbeat’s Flo the Bear recently met at Barratt’s headquarters in Hedge End to start their training plans. Anyone who is planning to improve their tness in 2025 or fancies a fun- lled family day out can sign up now, with all funds raised supporting the Cardiac Unit at the University Hospital Southampton to become the UK’s leading heart failure unit. “Heart and Stroll is for everyone, whether they are a seasoned walker, a beginner or simply want a day out with the family – dogs are welcome too!” said Tanya Harder, Heartbeat’s Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager. “The event aims to raise awareness of heart health by focusing on the many physical and emotional benefits of walking, all while supporting our Cardiac Unit by raising much-needed funds along the way.” Participants will receive a medal at the end of their walk and there will be plenty to enjoy on the day. Tanya added: “During the walk there will be a few surprises and photo opportunities. Plus, our very own DJ will be there to create a great party atmosphere and get people moving.
