It takes place in Amp eld Village Hall (SO51 9BJ), between 10am and 12noon. Parking and admission are free. e Market has become a very popular meeting place, o ering the best value, most delicious refreshments in Hampshire! Every e ort is made to keep the sales tables lively and interesting. ere are top quality, locally sourced items for sale including cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and veg, cra s, books, cards, wrapping paper, jewellery and collectables. ey order their fruit and veg from Hansards a very reputable local supplier and they endeavour to sell a good variety of fresh, seasonal produce every month. ey are delighted that Matt’s Bakery in Chandlers Ford is now supplying their bread each month. e Market generates almost £3,000 a year towards Village Hall funds. e Market team generously volunteer their time and baking skills to provide a delicious seasonal selection of cakes every month, which are served with co ee and tea throughout the morning. e next Amp eld Market will take place on Saturday 1st March between 10am and 12noon. If you would like to rent a table in the future or would just like more general information, then please contact Julie Trotter via: julie@amp eld.org.uk HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT New Forest/Waterside U3A are looking forward to a year of interesting and varied talks and a variety of outings organised by members. eir membership continues to grow, with their twice monthly meetings regularly attended by over 100 members. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month, 2pm at St Andrews in Dibden Purlieu. Tea and biscuits are available a er the talks, and the meetings end at approximately 3.30pm. In January they enjoyed two very interesting and stimulating talks, rstly on the Lymington Marshes and secondly about Spring in Japan. During February there were two interesting talks, one from local charity, Tools for Self Reliance and then reminiscences from ex-policewoman Jackie Dimmock, very thought provoking. eir next meeting is on Tuesday 4th March for a talk by Marc Heighway titled ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’, observations of WW2 in the local area. Followed on Tuesday 18th March for a talk by Steve Herra titled ‘Body through the Porthole’. New Forest and Waterside have many interest groups such as gardening, history, discussion, skittles and much more. ere is usually a luncheon once a month, twice a year at Brockenhurst College. Other activities have included a visit to Hilliers for the lights, Lepe House open garden, theatre trips, garden visits, local brewery visit, snowdrops at Welford, the Hawk Conservancy, Arundel Carpet of owers, the Waterside Heritage Centre, trips on Solent Dolphin, Winchester Christmas market and a Christmas lunch at South Lawns, Milford on Sea. Currently discussions are in progress about starting a Petong group, and a lunch has been organised at the Boathouse in Hythe. If you are interested in joining this friendly group, please go along to one of their meetings or contact the secretary: u3a.nfwsecretary@outlook.com TABLE TOP SALES Every 2 weeks on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 12noon there’s a great TABLE TOP SALE at Cornerstone Hythe URC in New Road. ere’s always a great selection of electrical items, jewellery, collectables, kitchenware, glassware, bags, toys, bric-a-brac, a great many jigsaw puzzles and an extensive library of paperback books, CDs and DVDs. Co ee, tea and biscuits are always available in the Foyer too. All proceeds go to the Cornerstone Building Repairs Fund. e next sale is on 4th March.
