As the ageing population continues to grow, the charity’s work is more important than ever, and additional volunteers are needed to make a meaningful impact in the community. As an independent charity, they are committed to improving the lives of older people through specialist care at their Care and Wellbeing Centres and vital services that promote independence, playing a key role in enhancing the quality of life for older individuals, their carers, and families. Volunteering with Age Concern Hampshire o ers more than just an opportunity to give time, it provides a chance to build meaningful connections and ensure that older people feel valued and supported. Whether it’s an hour a week or more, each contribution can help provide companionship, practical support, and a lifeline to those who need it most. To address the increasing demands of Hampshire’s ageing population, volunteers are sought for a range of roles, including: • Supporting Care and Wellbeing Centres, which o er activities, social interaction, and day care services. Kate Harrison, Volunteer Coordinator at Age Concern Hampshire, praised the charity’s volunteers, saying: “The support we provide to clients and their carers wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of dedicated and passionate volunteers. Many have supported us for years, finding real enjoyment and fulfilment in their roles, as well as the social benefits volunteering brings.” Age Concern Hampshire is also seeking passionate individuals for leadership roles, including Trustee and Deputy Chair positions. ese positions o er a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the charity, helping shape its future and navigate the challenges ahead. Parkinson’s UK New Forest Branch e Parkinson’s UK New Forest Branch was set up in 2009 in order to help and support people in the New Forest area whose lives have been a ected by Parkinson’s disease. is includes family, friends and carers – all are welcome at any of the activities. e regular monthly meetings of the Group are on the third Thursday of each month, except December, from 2pm at e Boldre War Memorial Hall in Pilley Street, Boldre, Lymington SO41 5QG. ere is usually a speaker followed by refreshments and a chance to socialise with other members. ere are also some annual events like the August Garden Party, October Concert, Christmas Lunch and boat trips in the Summer. Tombola and information stalls are also held at Markets and Fetes in the New Forest area during the year. On the second Monday of each month the Branch hold a Co ee Morning at 10.30am in one of the local Garden Centres. During the lighter months A ernoon Teas are held at 2pm, also in one of the local Garden Centres. e New Forest Branch of Parkinson’s UK welcome all Parkinson’s people and their Carers to join their fun chair-based exercise classes. ese classes are held on Tuesdays at 10.30am and most Thursdays at 2pm at the Boldre War Memorial Hall, Pilley, SO41 5QG. £3 per class (Carers free). Each month there is a ‘Parkinson’s Friendly’ Cinema Club showing at the Malt Cinema at the Lymington Hythe Memory Group meet up every Monday, from 2pm to 3.15pm at Cornerstone (Hythe URC), New Road, Hythe. Families Matter run the support group which o ers cognitive stimulation therapy for people with early stage dementia. It encourages people to socialise and have fun learning and remembering together. Carers are also welcome to stay and have a cup of tea and chat to other carers.
