Can You Help a Local Beekeeper? OUR FUTURE YEAR AT FORESTERS FLOWER CLUB by Debbie Thorne, Foresters Flower Club Having said goodbye to January, we look forward to spring and the year ahead. Foresters have planned an interesting programme for 2025. We remind you that visitors are always very welcome. 6th March: AGM, social, including quiz. 3rd April: Alison Finch, Demonstration. 1st May: Cream Tea Outing. 5th June: Gill Horner, Demonstration. 3rd July: Carole Norman, Presentation. August no meeting. 4th September: Sue Wall, Demonstration. 2nd October: In House Promenade. 6th November: Jo Richards, Demonstration. 4th December: Christmas Party. Coming into February I plan my ideas for my vegetable and ower gardens, encouraging thoughts and requests from my husband and granddaughter. Collecting my ideas, I make a plot drawing and plan what will be planted where and when. Seeds and plants are available at garden centres/magazines/online. A warm windowsill is perfect for starting the more tender plants from seed. Cosmos, nigella (love in the mist), poppies, wild ower mixes are really useful for ower arranging. Ornamental fruit and vegetables can be useful additions for arrangements and competition work. If space is limited, large pots and troughs can be really useful and growing our own is economical, as well as very self-satisfying. Children love to be involved and growing plants becomes an exciting, useful and educational experience. Let’s see what fun we can have and what we can achieve over the next year! All meetings are held at 7.30pm, at Copythorne Parish Hall, SO40 2NZ. For more information: Debbie Thorne 07769 830752.
