Winning Team: D Thorpe, D Webster D Wilkins (70) 2nd: D Lowman, R Short and P Huxley (69) 3rd: J Manning, J Stoker and L Rustell (68C/B). Nearest the Pins: D Thorpe 4th (18) P Huxley 7th (9) and Pro’s Approach: T O’Connor 1st (9). 21st January the ‘DOGS’ played an ‘Any 4 Club Challenge’ fun game played on the winter card, an individual Stableford format using 4 clubs of the players choice from their bag. Winner: B Baker (37) 2nd: S Lawson Bramshott Hill Golf Club (BHGC) Women’s Section News January was a challenging month for weather for any golfer, but it has also been a busy time at BHGC for the new lady Captain, Sue Lewis assisted by the Women’s Committee preparing for golf matches and events throughout 2025. Some golf has been played by the hardy few when course conditions allowed and the results throughout January are below. One particular highlight was a hole-in-one on the 6th hole on the short course by Jo Renyard – well done Jo! A four ball better ball was played on the 9-hole short course on ursday 9th January with 12 ladies playing. e winners were Sammi Reynolds and Gill Munro with Naomi Lowman and Cathy Boiling coming in a close second on countback closely followed by Caroline Beech and Pam Kellaway. Only nine holes were open on the 18 hole course. Seven ladies played in a Stableford competition which was won by Jackie Howells with Julie Weatherdon second. Thursday 16th January saw some better weather with 29 playing. e 18 hole scores proved that it was a tough morning. Division 1 was won by Julie Weatherdon with Sally Till second. Division 2 saw Mandy Tennant winning just beating Viv Boot on countback. On the short course, Gail Feary won on countback with a magni cent 23 points beating Maureen Webb. Debbie Campbell came in third. ursday 23rd January saw the return of the bad weather and so a friendly was played by seven resilient ladies over twelve holes. Julie Weatherdon won with a great score of 24 points followed by Viv Boot. ursday 30th January was a beautiful sunny day. e golf course conditions were a challenge with carry only permitted. 10 ladies ventured out on the 18-hole course playing a nine-hole bowmaker. Julie Weatherdon, Alison Jones, Jackie Howells and Maureen Robb were the winners. Congratulations to Jo Reynard who becomes only the second society’s golfer in ten years to join the ‘hole in one club’ well done Jo from all the ‘DOGS’. SPORT IN THE HERALD LYMINGTON & DISTRICT SEA FISHING CLUB RESULTS On Sunday 12th January Lymington & District Sea Fishing Club held its 2nd Club Shore Competition at Sandbanks, Poole. e weather for the evening was cold with a south-westerly wind and a nice at sea. 18 club members and 2 guest anglers signed on. Sadly only 1 sizeable sh was caught which was a whiting weighing 0 lb 9.5 oz caught by Bruce Samber which gave him 65 points. For these competitions undersize sh count for points, which were 1 conger eel each by Thomas Short and Simon Stockley and both getting 25 points. Shane Samber and Malcolm Stote both caught 1 bass and 1 pouting each for 15 points each. All the other anglers who caught no sh got 5 points each. On Sunday 19th January Lymington & District Sea Fishing Club held its 2nd Shallow Boat competition. e day was cloudy and very cold with a light wind blowing from the South. 13 club members signed on and caught sh consisting of conger eel, dog sh, pouting and whiting. All the sh were measured, points awarded and released back into the sea. Results: 1st Charlie Nash 70 points, 2nd Ryan Nash 60 points, 3rd Adrian Moody 51 points, 4th Alan Martin 41 points, 5th Barry Littlefair (6 sh) 40 points, 6th Denis Mapes (4 sh) 40 points, 7th Paul Watson 35 points, 8th Jack Nash (3 sh) 25 points, 9th Alan Mapes, Neil Mitchener and Ady Hulme all 2 sh each and 25 points, 12th Chris Hardy 10 points.
