Steven Brice, the President of the bowls club, recently presented Nigel Cooper, Chairman of the Waterside Gateway Club, with a cheque for £1,693. Steven had nominated the Waterside Gateway Club as the President’s Charity for 2024. As part of the ongoing Waterside Arts Presents programme, acclaimed world musicians Amadou Diagne and Cory Seznec, performing as Touki, are set to bring their vibrant sounds to your doorstep in Fawley on Saturday 29th March, 7.30pm at Jubilee Hall. is tour follows the release of their latest album, “Plastic Man,” and promises a multiinstrumental tour-de-force with powerful beats, driving grooves, and silky vocals. Amadou Diagne, a West African multiinstrumentalist and composer, is a member of L’Orchestra National du Senegal and has performed with top West African stars. Since moving to England, he has developed his own musical identity, releasing acclaimed solo albums featuring the kora, guitar, and percussion. Cory Seznec, in uenced by blues and ragtime, discovered ngerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo in the US. Now based in Paris, his style has evolved through travels and encounters in Ethiopia and Kenya, blending syncopated, polyrhythmic, and cross-pollinated sounds. Touki’s music infuses East and West African styles with Appalachian banjo, folk motifs, and orchestral arrangements. For this tour, Amadou and Cory are joined by accordion virtuoso Michael Ward-Bergeman. Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, their latest album, “Plastic Man,” addresses climate change, environmental activism, and spirituality.
