Waterside Bowling Club was originally formed on 20th May 1950 as Esso Fawley Bowling Club and later became part of the Waterside Sports and Social Club. Now Waterside Bowling Club is an independent private bowling club with two high standard greens and plenty of free parking. Last year they had an incredibly successful competitive season, winning more outside trophies than ever before. But they also emphasise a friendly and fun approach to bowling for anyone who just wants some exercise and social contact. e new season will hopefully start on Saturday 12th April when the 2025 President, Andy Woolley will be opening the greens. eir yearly Open Day will take place on 26th April and a celebration Anniversary Day will be held on Bank Holiday Monday 26th May, everyone who has had a connection with the club over the past 75 years is encouraged to go along and join them. Twenty golden eggs will be hidden every day from Good Friday to Easter Monday. ere are no clues; just keep your eyes peeled because the golden eggs are VERY hard to nd. Look all around the farm (keeping to the public areas), and if you are lucky enough to nd a golden egg, there will be an eggstra special prize to be won. e Great Big Golden Egg Hunt will take place on Friday 18th April, Saturday 19th April, Sunday 20th April, and Monday 21st April 2025. ( ere is no extra charge to enter). Running alongside the eggy Easter fun (and throughout the school holidays) will be a full schedule of animal activities each day, including bottle-feeding the kid goats and calves, and hand-feeding the ducks. Children (and adults, too) are encouraged to collect real eggs newly laid by the chickens at the farm and, of course, hold u y yellow chicks and cuddle baby animals in the Animal Encounter Barn. ere are lots more friendly farm animals to see too. ere’s plenty of playtime fun to keep the visiting children amused in the all-inclusive outdoor play area which includes a wheelchair swing. e go-karts, trampolines, crazy golf*, and many other brilliant play areas are perfect for letting o steam. NEW this year – the sand pit with diggers and toys. Visitors can put their feet up while the children play in the Piglets Seating Area. With so much to see and do, the Farm is perfect for a wonderful handson family day out at any time of the year, but especially in the spring. To top o the day, a visit to the Longdown Farm Shop is a must with its large range of delicious locally sourced produce including seasonal springtime goodies and Easter treats. Open daily throughout the season – 10am–5pm. *extra charge Last year’s Ladies Captain Day Join in the Golden Egg Hunt at Longdown Southampton Branch of the World Ship Society meet at St James Methodist Church, Shirley, 7.30pm to 9.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month. e meetings take place in Room 7; enter the church building from the car park at the back, go up the stairs, then turn right and Room 7 is at the end of the corridor. eir next meeting is on Tuesday 8th April for a talk titled ‘Cornish Ports’ by Krispen Atkinson.
