Hythe Huddle Dementia Support Hythe Huddle, the drop in support group for people living with dementia and their carers, organised by Families Matter, meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at Cornerstone URC, Hythe SO45 6BR. Activities are planned throughout the year including arts and cra s, entertainment and games. The Dementia Care Hub Secure Funding For Social Group In Hythe e Dementia Care Hub runs a number of support groups across the local area. anks to new funding from Hampshire County Council, they are now in a position to o er free transport and lunch to those that struggle to attend due to the increased cost of living. If you meet their criteria, free transport and lunch will be provided for the Waterside Hub Hythe Social Sessions every Wednesday (excluding the 1st Wednesday of the month when they join Hythe Huddle) during April and May, 2pm-4pm, at Cornerstone Church, Atheling Road in Hythe, SO45 6BR. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at St Andrews Hall in Dibden Purlieu, starting at 2pm. Meetings nish at around 3.30pm, but everyone is invited to stay for tea and biscuits if they wish. ey regularly welcome between 90 and 100 people to their meetings. ey recently enjoyed a talk giving a most interesting whistlestop tour of sites in the New Forest associated with WW II activities, from Marc Heighway. He warned them that it is still possible to come across unexploded ordnance! e next meeting on 15th April is titled ‘Pirates’ by Richard Hutley. 40 members recently enjoyed a lunch at the Boathouse, on Hythe Marina, and such lunches are organised regularly. ey are also hoping to visit Highgrove Gardens, with lunch, as an organised coach trip, later in the summer. Other special interest groups meet regularly, including skittles, scrabble, table tennis, history, and gardening. A new group, for anyone who enjoys playing pétanque/boules, will be having its rst throw in a couple of weeks! Meetings are held at the Eastleigh Railway Institute, Romsey Road Eastleigh SO50 9FE and commence at 7.30pm. e room, on the rst oor (sorry no disabled access), is usually open from 7pm. A bar is available for refreshments. eir next meeting is on Wednesday 16th April for a talk titled ‘ e Great Train Robbery’. A donation of £3 is usual to help with the costs of the speaker and room hire. Non-members are very welcome at their meetings. All veterans, serving personnel, their families and dependents are invited to attend and enjoy the usually good humour, refreshments and occasional visiting guests.
