Please Report Any Sightings of Asian Hornets Asian hornets are an incredibly destructive invasive species that specialise in preying on honeybee hives - one Asian hornet alone can kill 30-60 honeybees per day. First discovered in the UK in 2016, the insect has travelled to our shores from northern Europe. Asian hornets are aggressively defensive of their nests, which are o en built in hedgerows and brambles, meaning disturbances by unsuspecting individuals could have dangerous consequences. is defensive behaviour could a ect anyone working near a nest, gardeners, allotment owners, dog walkers, farm workers, horse riders and many others. Asian hornets are slightly smaller than a native hornet, they have a dark abdomen with the 4th segment yellow/ orange in colour, they have bright yellow tips to the legs, and an entirely brown or black thorax. Please report any sightings through the ‘Asian Hornet Watch’ app or online: www.bit.ly/asianhornetreport TRANSPORT TORQUE Join acclaimed travel writer Sam Manicom for a Transport Torque on 26th April blending fun, awe, drama and laughter, as he shares captivating stories from his eight-year motorcycle journey around the world. e Transport Torque will take place at 7pm in the Collections Centre theatre at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.
