Members also voted for this year’s topic for the annual Wood Block Challenge and the blocks of jelutong wood sold out. A er welcome refreshments, they were treated to a presentation by Allan Mechen, a long term member with a lifetime of experience working with wood. Allan talked about ways to nish o a carving and speci cally staining and bleaching. There was a fascinating array of potions on the table, each producing a different e ect. Needless to say, Allan had brought along awarded for best novice, intermediate and experienced carvers. In the meantime workshops at Noadswood School continue every other Thursday evening, even during school holidays.
